How do considerations of modern (and perhaps even postmodern) readership and definitions of authorial intent play into your proposal of a new edition of Barduca? If even in the Renaissance texts were fairly unstable and constantly altered, how do we reach an acceptable definition of authorship and authorized versions?
Can you talk more about why the author's accidentals are, in this case, more important than considering an edition of the play that was perhaps modified particularly for performance? Would this new edition include an introduction explaining the different contexts of the two versions?
