Can you elaborate on the differences between presenting these songs for a reading audience versus a theatrical audience? For instance, would it be necessary to include the song sheets in printed editions of Shakespeare (et. al)? Would you include footnotes in the songs to properly introduce their context?

Is there are difference between music that was meant to signify particular feelings for the audience and music that has a particular significance in for the characters in the play? You talk a little bit about that in your analysis of The Knight of the Burning Pestle, and I'm interested to hear more about the different uses of music in plays.
