Is there any sign of correction, editing or deliberate revision of Elizabeth’s translation in any of the published versions which might be consistent with the sentiments expressed in the editors’ prefatory material? (Do we even know whether the later published versions are straightforward reprints of the previous one(s); or is there evidence that the later publishers had access to Elizabeth’s holograph manuscript or something like it?)
If an editor were preparing a new edition of the text in 2010, what would be the main priorities in terms of framing the text for readers today, and what similarities or differences should there be from the framing in any of the editions discussed here?
