Should it matter in the editing of a text which of the collaborative authors has written a larger percentage of the text? In determining the actual words spoken by the characters, or the stage directions, should it matter in the decision-making process which author was responsible for that part of the text? Should Shakespeare's sections be edited differently from the parts written by other authors?
Young makes a case for an "agency-aware" edition of Edward III that makes it clear which scenes were written by which playwright. What happens with regard to the disputed scenes. On p. 1 and p. 9, she mentions that there are "three (or possibly four)" scenes written by Shakespeare. Would the disputed fourth scene be printed in a different way than the other three?
