Although recent critics have started to look at the works and translations of Queen Elizabeth as part of her self-fashioning as Monarch, not much attention has been given to how Early Modern editors and printers participated in this process. This essay seeks to take a closer look at the paratexts surrounding Early Modern editions which included works by Queen Elizabeth, inquiring into how editors sought to support the Queen while simultaneously subverting the authority and public space allowed to her gender.
