Brett D. Hirsch "Video and the Electronic Edition: Past, Present, and Potential Practices"

This paper considers the various uses of video content in electronic editions of Shakespeare and the drama of his contemporaries, from the earliest projects on Laserdisc through to more recent implementations of streaming video over the Internet. After examining past and present practices, this paper considers the opportunities for greater cross-media integration and interaction still waiting to be realized by the electronic edition, and their implications for teaching and research.
